This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Renju International Federation. In honor of this momentous event, we will publish a translation of the message of the RIF President Anders Henningsson.

Dear officials, players and other renju and gomoku friends.

Today is a very happy day, since 30 years have passed since the Renju International Federation was founded in Stockholm by Japan, Russia (the former Soviet Union) and Sweden.

Five-in-a-row games have an amazing history for over 2,700 years; The very same game, five in a row, was invented in many places around the world, and it is wonderful that we are all united in the international Renju Federation.

Digital technologies have opened up endless possibilities for us to play, communicate and organize over the Internet. Since 1998, many new countries have joined our community and this trend continues.

I urge all interested people to ensure that positive development continues in the future.
