On April 18, the Kawamura Cup was held in Tallinn.

The Kawamura Cup began in 2011. Norihiko Kawamura, who was at that time in Europe at the time, came to the competition, after whom the tournament was named.

Kawamura started playing Renju in 1977, but then left the game for a while. However, in the 90s he returned to the game. And apparently not in vain, since in 1994 he became a major, winning Sigeru Nakamura with a score of 3: 2. In 1995 at the World Championships in Tallinn, he also had success, becoming the world champion. In 1995, the major again, but in 1996 this tournament lost. Later, after years, he once again managed to become a major (in 2004 and 2004). What does in 2004, the match against Yusuya Yamaguchi, he won with a score of 3.5: 0.5.

Being in Europe, Mr. Kawamura took part in the European Championship in 2012, where he finished third. He came to Tallinn Open in 2013, and also was noted at the Larix festival in 2014.
All previous Kawamura Cup was won by Kawamura himself, but this year, due to the fact that he returned to Japan, he was unable to come to Tallinn and take part. Thus, this cup was the first since 2011, in which he did not participate.

We present a standings this year.
