In May 2015 (1-3) the World Championship among the programs (engines) for Gomocup Gomokup 2015 took place.

The competition was organized by Alexander Bogatyrev, a gomoku player, captain of the Russian national team, member of the GIF RIF committee. We thank Alexander.

All programs were launched on computers of one of the following configurations:

Windows 8.1, x64 Intel Core i7 (Ivy Bridge) 3630QM (2.4 / 3.4GHz), 8GB RAM.
Windows 7, x64 Intel Core i7 TODO, 8GB RAM.
Windows 7, x64 Intel Core i5 (Haswell) 4210M (2.6 / 3.2GHz), 4GB RAM
Updates in engines
• Goro 2015 – completely different
• Hewer 2015 – faster, more strategic
• SlowRenju 2015 – improving search algorithms and parameters
• Swine 2015 – more correct algorithm
• Kanec 2015 – not confirmed due to a crash, Kanec09 was used instead
• Yixin 2015 – the algorithm was improved and the bug was fixed
• Zetor 2015 – fixed bugs
• Imro 2015 – ekexity

New engines
• AcePela2 – Pela-based open source
• XoXo15

Unfortunately, Kanec 2015 failed the initial test because there were too many failures. Tried to fix it, but still failures were too frequent. We hope that this will be fixed before the next Gomocup.
There were difficulties, as every year, some of them were technical, others were caused by human factors.
I had to restart several times. First, there were problems with the two engines. Highfive, which worked fine in 2014, this year refused to work on the same computer. The problem was security on Windows 8.1. But he still worked on Windws 7, so all the games with Highfive were running on Windows 7.
Another problem was with AcePela, which was successfully tested on Windows 8.1 and Windows XP SP3, but refused at the beginning of the tournament. He had to rebuild from the source, which was provided by the author (because he GPL).
