From 28 April to 4 May in Tallinn passed team championship on Renju world.

Participants and compositions

Even before the tournament started coming bad news about the composition. In question was part of the Chinese, Japan put frankly mediocre composition (in its ranks no Shigeru Nakamura Yuki Oosumi), and Taiwan, and all exhibited an incomplete part 3 of 4, despite the fact that in a parallel tournament Gomoku to play a full team, which included a Chen Ko-Han. As a result, the Chinese team is still able to take part, which certainly add interest and intrigue in the tournament, as China initially was considered one of the favorites, along with Estonia.

What is known?

Estonia won the team championship for the second time in a row (but only for the third time, earlier – in 2008 and 2014). Tunnet Taimla became a three-time world champion in the team competition in the national team. Earlier this sought only Vladimir Sushkov and Aleksandr Klimashin of Russia.
Russia gets a long-awaited medal for the first time since 2008. Bright performance on Russia-2 tournament, also qualify for the medal.

What you need to know?

This is the first team championship since 2008, which was conducted in Europe (in 2010, 2012 and 2014 competition was held in Tokyo, Beijing and Taipei, respectively). At the same time, apparently, this is the last World Team Championship held under the rules of Yamaguchi. So in a sense we can say that the tournament ends the whole era and serves some tabulation of subtotals.
